Hotels in Thailand
Rooftop hotels in Thailand are, on this site, all about Bangkok, one of Asia's great rooftop cities, where the skyline rises straight out of a flat river plain and the Chao Phraya curves through the middle of it. In Silom and Sathorn, terraces look over the business towers, Lumphini Park and the river bend, with King Power Mahanakhon standing out among them. Riverside hotels face Wat Arun and the temple roofs of Rattanakosin across the water, while Sukhumvit rooftops look over a dense grid of condos and the elevated BTS line.
Bangkok's rooftops lean toward bars and infinity pools, and much of their appeal comes after dark, when the river traffic and the towers light up. The cool, dry season from November to February is the most comfortable time on the roof. From May to October, monsoon showers often arrive in the late afternoon and some open-air bars close during storms. Choose the river for temples, Silom and Sathorn for the skyline.
