Rooftop Pool
A rooftop pool is a swimming pool set on a hotel's top floor or roof deck, usually with loungers and a bar nearby, so guests swim and sunbathe with the city or the coast spread out below.
A rooftop pool turns the hottest hours of a city break into the best ones: a swim high above the traffic, a lounger in the late-afternoon light and, as the day cools, a view that slowly switches from rooftops to street lights. The calmest moments are usually early morning and the hour before sunset, before evening guests arrive for drinks. Dubai is the reference, with pools looking toward the Burj Khalifa, the Marina towers or the Gulf, and comfortable swimming weather from November to April. Marrakech offers a gentler version, where rooftop pools in Hivernage and around the medina face the Koutoubia minaret and, on clear days, the snowy line of the High Atlas. In Ho Chi Minh City, pools above District 1 overlook the Saigon River and the Bitexco tower, while São Paulo's rooftop pools around Jardins and Paulista float over a sea of towers. Families, couples and remote workers all use them; anyone wanting long laps should check the size first.

Local tips
- Swim early in the morning or in the last hour before sunset, when the deck is quieter and the low sun softens both the heat and the glare.
- Check the pool's opening hours and age rules before booking, as some rooftop pools close in the evening or limit access for children.
- Bring sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, because a roof deck has little shade and reflects light strongly in Dubai, Marrakech and Ho Chi Minh City.
- Ask whether the pool is heated if you travel in the cooler months, especially in Marrakech or Buenos Aires, where winter mornings can feel chilly.
- Reserve a lounger or cabana on weekends, when local day-pass visitors can fill the deck at some hotels in Dubai, São Paulo and Ho Chi Minh City.
- Measure your expectations: many rooftop pools are compact plunge or leisure pools, so pick a hotel with a larger pool if you want to swim real laps.
