How we select and rank hotels
Every page on HotelsWithRooftops follows the same published rules. Here is how a hotel gets onto a page, and in which order it appears.
Our categories
We sort hotels into 19 categories: Rooftop Pool, Rooftop Bar, Infinity Pool, Skyline Views, Rooftop Restaurant, Rooftop Terrace, Rooftop Lounge, Rooftop Hot Tub, Sunset Views, Panoramic Views, Rooftop Spa, Rooftop Garden, Observation Deck, Luxury, Boutique, Adults Only, Rooftop Nightlife, Sea Views, City Center.
A hotel joins a category only when its listing (facilities, description, property details) clearly mentions that feature. One hotel can belong to several categories.
Minimum number of hotels per page
A category page for a destination is only indexed once it lists at least 3 qualifying hotels. Below that, the page stays out of search engines and out of our sitemap.
A category page for a whole country needs at least 6 hotels spread across at least 2 destinations.
Ratings and order
The ratings shown are the guest review scores published on Booking.com, out of 10, with their number of reviews. We do not invent our own scores and we never edit guest reviews.
On each page, hotels are listed by guest rating, highest first. No hotel can pay to appear or to move up.
Updates and corrections
Listings are refreshed regularly. If you notice outdated or wrong information, write to contact@hotelswithrooftops.com and we will check and fix it.
